The Irish Examiner has reported a story about a couple chartering a train to take their wedding guests from Banteer to Killarney. So, you can charter a train for weddings, but not for railtours?

Monday, June 22nd, 2009The Irish Examiner has reported on a wonderful incident which took place at Ballymurray LC in Co. Roscommon on the line to Westport. The crossing gates had been deactivated due to work taking place in the area - an act that allowed a road user to drive their car across the line only seconds before a train passed through.

If you give me a PTSC, I promise to behave and not graffiti anything - like the countryside code, I will take nothing but photographs and leave nothing but footprints.

Wednesday, June 10th, 2009We know about CIE Consult - but it looks like they missed a gig in Iran.
According to the Irish Independent, Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad’s election campaign posters include a photograph of an Irish Rail 181 Class locomotive with the tag line “the country is advancing as rapidly as a train”. Obviously that would not be a train on the Nenagh branch or the South Wexford.
I hope someone doesn’t tell him that they serve alcohol on Irish trains. I also doubt that the stations face towards Mecca.
